What if I could see You walking?
Would You stand proud and tall?
Higher than us all?
Would I feel as if I could approach You?
And what if I could hear You talking?
Would You shout in discipline?
Just pointing out my sin?
Would I hang my head in all my shame?
But You didn’t come in beauty,
You didn’t come in strength
And this is the mystery that draws me to You
You never looked down on me, never denied me mercy
And this is the mystery that drives me to want You
What if I should do Your work?
Would it ever be enough?
What if I had to give up?
I would hate to have to disappoint You…
But You didn’t come in beauty,
You didn’t come in strength
And this is the mystery that draws me to You
You never looked down on me, never denied me mercy
And this is the mystery that drives me to want You
And these pictures in my head, they’re brokenness
So I come for something new, I come to see You…
Cause You didn’t come in beauty,
You didn’t come in strength
And this is the mystery that draws me to You
You never looked down on me, never denied me mercy
And this is the mystery that drives me to want You
**Additional Lyrics**
much of this love towards me
I still can’t understand
But when I see Your mercy on me
this is the mystery…
Behind the Song:If I had created this world, I’d probably choose to let that fact be known and to live a pretty glorified lifestyle. After all, who would have more a right to do so? There has never really been a time in the world’s eyes where humility and meekness have been highly valued as “keys to success.” Although unspoken, the terms are quite clear, a prideful man will succeed over humble one; a strong man over one who is weak. Yet God, in His wisdom, completely defied all these “rules.” He came in humility, loved His enemies and died a criminal’s death. His ways are bizarre…mystery to those that have stood tall to measure themselves up against the standards of the world.
