My eyes have seen
A glimpse of You
And ever will they yearn
To see You as
They will, my Lord
The hour of Your return
Creation groans
For that great day
When Heav’n and earth collide
When every heart
With one pure voice
Will bow to You and cry
CHORUS
Glory, glory
Glory to the Lamb
With praise we war
Against the night
This battle we have won
Because of Christ
Our Savior King
At last it will be done
With blood stained tears
And nine inch nails
You rescued my poor heart
In laying down
A sinless life
You overcame the dark
WORDS AND MUSIC BY JEFF DEYO
Behind the Song:"All of creation groans from the curse placed on it at the Fall. Every living thing knowingly or unknowingly longs and pushes toward the day when everything seen and heard in the Bible will come to pass. “Glory” is about that day, when heaven and earth collide, when the reality of the spirit realm suddenly and violently crashes into our reality. In that moment, all doubt will be cast down and everyone will behold the Lamb of God. Seeing him as he is, every other care will disappear in the light of His glory. No need of sun or moon, for the glory of the Lord will illuminate the eternal city of God. And every creature will sing together, “Blessing, and honor and glory and power belong to the one sitting on the throne and to the Lamb forever and ever.” (Revelation 5:13) That moment is closer today than is was yesterday, and it is quickly approaching.
After working on some new songs, believing I had just about all I needed to finish the CD, I came upstairs from my studio to talk with my wife Martha. I told her that I felt like I needed one more great song, a slow but powerful heart cry to God. I sat down at the piano and began playing. About 15-20 minutes later, I had written a song that was powerful, grandiose and obviously to be called “Glory.” This is not the norm in songwriting, but when it happens suddenly, you can find yourself with one of the most powerful God-given songs you’ve even written." - Jeff Deyo
