Back in 2005, nobody could have guessed what Dallas Taylor had in the works for us. The ex-Underoath vocalist abandoned the trend of metalcore bands flooding the scene and started something that, to my knowledge, wasn't done at the time. Mixing heavy riffs with a southern feel and the harshest vocals you've ever heard. It was southern metal without any of the cringe. With the creative name, Maylene and the Sons of Disaster created a niche for themselves. Their creativity didn't stop with the name, though. Each song, in either lyrics or songwriting, or both, gave off the feel of the anger and rage of a man in a dangerous gang in the early 1900s. Time would later prove that Maylene wasn't a one-trick pony, as they produced four fantastic albums.
