#2. Owl City
Cinematic

Release Date: June 1, 2018
Adam Young has come a long way from "Fireflies." He released the album Mobile Orchestra as Owl City in 2015, which featured collaborations with artists like Aloe Blacc and Britt Nicole, then he spent 2016 writing instrumental music under his given name. Now he is ready to release another Owl City effort, and even though the Owl City and Adam Young projects run parallel, I am curious to see if his sound and style have changed since 2015.
        - Nicole Marie Vacca

After a massively ambitious 'historical soundtrack' project (one per month in 2016), Adam Young returns to his day job with Owl City and it will be interesting to see how his ‘cinematic’ excursion influences his new tunes. The album is curiously titled Cinematic, so the chances of overlap are significant. Young has shown himself to be a restless, creative soul, and Owl City's last album was a bit lackluster, so look for him to return with something massive and epic.
        - Alex Caldwell

A long, autobiographical cinema-like experience wrapped up in a musical album created by a Minnesotan? ADAM YOUNG GETS ME!!!
        - Mark Rice

Adam Young has been in somewhat of a creative rut with the last few Owl City releases. That being said, the ambitious concept of his electronic stylings with something more movie-like is fascinating in its potential.
        - Mason Haynie

A guilty pleasure, Owl City is a car ride family favorite, but will he offer the same fun pop songs, or deviate from the template to other musical sounds? Either way, I'm wishing for at least a few more sugary pop songs like “Fireflies,” “Verge,” and “When Can I See You Again?”
        - Josh Balogh
