Top 15 One-Album Wonders

As music fans, we hear a lot of new music all the time from promising new artists. Some national debut albums really leave a mark on us, getting us pumped for the artist's career ahead. Sadly, some of these artists never even make it to album number two before they stop making music, break up, or just disappear.

This list is a countdown of our top 15 "One-Album Wonders" -- bands that released just one album before disappearing from the map for one reason or another -- leaving us to wonder what could have been with album number 2.

Album Cover
#8. 38th Parallel
Turn The Tides

Release Year: 2002

When I first heard 38th Parallel, I was hooked. At the time that Turn The Tides came out, they were pretty Linkin Park-ish but without the DJ. Every track on the album was solid and I went back to it over and over again. I was even ministered to in dark times of my life by songs like "You Are My God." Though the originality was a bit lacking due to the similarities between 38th and Linkin Park, Turn The Tides was one album that I latched onto when I got my hands on it. After the album's release, I tried to keep up with them in the early days of social media (though I wouldn't even get a MySpace account for about four years after its release), but they remained pretty quiet, and just faded out into the realm of the one-album wonders. The odds of another album happening are astronomically in favor of "no," but if it happened, part of me would be pretty excited to hear the news.
