Listen to the new album from Charming to the Last!

For our 6th annual Highlighting feature, we've done things a little differently. Normally, we select our top 25 most anticipated releases for the whole year, but we realize that it's tough to really gauge EVERYTHING that may release throughout a given year when we're making the list in January. So, for 2012, we've split the year into TWO pieces -- January to June and June to December. Also, we're making each list 15 artists/releases for a total of 30 in 2012.

We've already selected the first fifteen artists, so please click here to check those out. Without further ado, we give you Highlighting Second-Half 2012!

#8. Owl City
The Midsummer Station

Release Date: August 14, 2012
Although I have been less than enthusiastic about the early samples from The Midsummer Station, considering his track record, his third album should still be well worth checking out.
        - Nathaniel Schexnayder

Besides the bewildering fact that we've been promised a new record only a year after the last, Owl City's new effort is looking to showcase Adam Young's ongoing transition from a beloved, self-made synthpop specialist to a wholesome, energetic Top 40 megastar. Guest appearances from the likes of Carly Rae Jepsen and Mark Hoppus are garnering mixed fan responses, but Adam Young hasn't failed us yet; The Midsummer Station will surely be worth the visit.
        - Roger Gelwicks
