I pitched my value in the streets just waiting for a sign
Watched the silence echo back like I'd been left behind
I built up tales of shadowed halls where strangers say my name
Surely they're all gathered there ignoring me the same

Oh but where's this grand committee this council in the dark
Are they holding secret meetings plotting how to break my heart

The secret society of those who hate me
Yeah they must be meeting nightly just to underrate me
But maybe just maybe they don't exist at all
And I don't need their praises I just need a call

I dreamt of headlines in the sky
Behold her genius fools
But no parade no golden crown no cheers from crowded rooms
Turns out I didn't need the noise just someone close and real
A quiet voice that leans in close
Hey friend how do you feel

Oh it's not the standing ovation the echoes in the hall
Just laughter in the kitchen just a moment that is all

The secret society of those who hate me
Yeah they must be meeting nightly just to underrate me
But maybe just maybe they don't exist at all
And I don't need their praises I just need a call

So here's to quiet tables to faces that are near
To talks that don't go viral but linger through the years
Here's to real connection where no spotlight has to shine
Where I can show up as I am
And know that you'll show up as mine

The secret society of those who hate me
Well if they're out there scheming I bet they overrate me
But maybe just maybe they don't exist at all
And I don't need their praises I just need a call

So if you've got a moment come and pull up a chair
Let's leave the stage behind us just be here just be here
