I hold the promise of tomorrow
While the past sighs in my ear
Reminders of what's broken
And the wounds that brought me here

But there's a flicker in the distance
A light hard to ignore
It's not the fix I've asked for
But greater something more

And when the shadows stretch too far
And the silence pulls me down
I remember that golden canopy
The glimmering truth I've found

Lift your eyes the heavens are nearer
The days to come now shine forth clearer
The sorrow won't last it's passing by
For your redemption draweth nigh

We want deliverance in the now
For the healing of today
But the broken ground beneath our feet
Still holds us in dismay

Yet when we gather in fellowship
Hearts burn as the Word takes flight
It's a mount of transfiguration
Just seconds but golden light

And though the answers come as whispers
Not the voice to still the storm
This truth unseen bears weight enough
To keep our heavy hearts warm

Lift your eyes the heavens are nearer
The days to come now shine forth clearer
The sorrow won't last it's passing by
For your redemption draweth nigh

It's not escape it's destiny
A banner of glory unfurled
We're caught up in a story greater
Than the fleeting ache of this world
When the heart grows heavy look to the sky
For the golden spark that will never die

Lift your eyes the heavens are nearer
The days to come now shine forth clearer
The sorrow won't last it's passing by
For your redemption draweth nigh

Every step forward no matter how heavy
Feels closer to something clear
Under that glimmering golden canopy
We're held by a promise sure and near
