#71. Living Sacrifice
Reborn
Release Date: November 5, 1997

You could be forgiven for assuming Reborn was Living Sacrifice’s first LP, with it being both their Solid State Records debut and their first album with rhythm guitarist Bruce Fitzhugh taking over vocal duties. In actuality, it was their fourth album and their much-deserved breakout release after three records fiddling around with thrash and death metal without much success. Everything changed on Reborn. Transitioning into a devilishly effective combination of metalcore and groove metal, Reborn hits with a staccato, rhythmic intensity only accentuated by Fitzhugh’s emphatic, barking vocals. Arguably the single most important album in Christian metalcore history, it still hits hard with tracks like “Reborn Empowered,” “Reject,” and “Sellout.”
