For our 11th annual Highlighting feature, we split the year into TWO pieces -- January to June and July to December. Each list contains 10 artists/releases for a total of 20 in total for 2017. So, without further ado, we give you Highlighting First-Half 2017!

#2. The Classic Crime
How To Be Human

Release Date: Early 2017

DISCLAIMER: When we made this list, the band's 2017 album How To Be Human hadn't been released yet. After we made this list, it released and surprised all of us to contain blasphemy as well as a use of the "F" word in one song. If we'd known that ahead of making this list, this album would not have been chosen for it. - JFH (May 20, 2021)
