The reign of Marvel movies continues (sorry-not-sorry to the haters) with
Guardians of the Galaxy, a real oddball and unexpected hit in the MCU. I remember seeing the trailer for
Guardians and thinking, "Well, this will be the first complete dud from Marvel." But I'll never forget sitting in the theater and seeing Chris Pratt grab a space rat like a microphone and singing Redbone's "Come And Get Your Love" into it, and knowing I was probably going to love this movie.
Guardians of the Galaxy has become one of my all-time favorite movies.
"Well, he don't know talking good like me and you, so his vocabulistics is limited to 'I' and 'am' and 'Groot.' Exclusively, in that order."
Honorable Mentions: Captain America: The Winter Soldier. I feel like picking all the Cap movies is kind of a cop-out, but the fact remains that
The Winter Soldier is a really, really good sequel and a turning point for the good guys of the MCU. I also love that it continues the Cap / Bucky friendship plot and the hard choices Cap is faced with realizing Bucky is now The Winter Soldier.
Edge of Tomorrow. Another really great Tom Cruise sci-fi action film. Definitely in the running for tops this year.
