#6. Bellarive
Before There Was

Release Date: July 22, 2014
It is rare (I repeat, RARE) for me to hear a lead single and practically beg to hear more. But "Lazarus" did that. I'd already liked Bellarive, but that song (and accompanying video) shot them up this list for me, personally.

The Heartbeat was a true surprise for me two summers ago. Their sound is perfect for corporate worship without sacrificing creativity, and "Taste of Eternity" is still one of my all-time favorites. I'm liking "Lazarus" far more than "Bring Us Back," but we'll see how Before There Was shapes up. Regardless, Sparrow Records was wise to sign this group.

This Orlando, Florida band offers up a unique brand of worship music. Interesting vocals and great overall talent make them a band to watch in 2014.

With one solid project already under their belt, Bellarive looks to again turn the tables with their sophomore effort, Before There Was. The band has done an acceptable job at avoiding the pitfalls which entrap so many other worship artists, and if their recent single, "Lararus," is any indication of where this project is going, fans and critics alike can expect another home run hit.

Even though Sean Curran sings kinda weird, Bellarive has done some great work with their last two albums, and if "Lazarus" is any indication, album number three could be a sheer highlight of 2014...
