I'll never forget recording
Lovin' the Day. My sisters, Lisa and Andrea, and I were too young to drive, so one of the "Gotee Bros." (TobyMac, Joey Elwood, or Todd Collins) usually had to come pick us up and drive us to the studio. While we were in the car and at the studio, we'd talk about music and creativity. Instead of forcing a sound on us, they encouraged us to give voice to the musical expression that naturally came from within. The three of us in Out of Eden were like so many young churchgoers in the '80s and '90s; we were allowed to listen to Christian music or nothing! I never understood how a childhood of Sandi Patty, Steven Curtis Chapman, and BeBe and CeCe Winans led to our unique style of pop/r&b, but that's the music God placed in our hearts. I'm so grateful for that "lovely" mix of pop, rap, disco, and soul that made up the sounds of
Lovin' the Day.
