For our 6th annual Highlighting feature, we've done things a little differently. Normally, we select our top 25 most anticipated releases for the whole year, but we realize that it's tough to really gauge EVERYTHING that may release throughout a given year when we're making the list in January. So, for 2012, we've split the year into TWO pieces -- January to June and June to December. Also, we're making each list 15 artists/releases for a total of 30 in 2012.
We've already selected the first fifteen artists, so please click here to check those out. Without further ado, we give you Highlighting Second-Half 2012!

#5. Paper Route
The Peace of Wild Things
Release Date: September 11, 2012
 |
The guys of Paper Route are undoubtedly some of the more experimental and unpredictable groups making music today, and the more people who found out about, and eventually fell in love with, the intricate Absence can only eagerly anticipate The Peace of Wild Things. Absence will be a tough act to follow, but the already-released lead single "Better Life" gets our hopes on the right foot.

I didn't appreciate the genius of Absence until much later, but Paper Route is a band that finds enthusiasm on my radar with each listen. And that makes The Peace of Wild Things a prime candidate for one of 2012's top releases.

I was sadly late to the Paper Route party, but thanks to Noisetrade, I discovered this year what a great record Absence is. If the early single release "Better Life" is an indication of things to come, then I'm buying Peace of the Wild Things on release day.
