Being a part of creating that first SONICFLOOd album was absolutely a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Looking back, it was like the perfect storm of God's providence: our lives being transformed, unlimited musical creativity among a surprisingly eclectic group of people, and seemingly perfect timing. The things we had dreamed and prayed about were finally happening. But in a different way than we could have ever imagined - in such a way that, though we were walking the walk, it was utterly clear that we did not create the path we were walking on, nor the gravity that held us to the ground. God wanted all the credit for this. The songs. The explosion. The radio hits. The tours. And the millions and millions of lives that were touched, including ours.
I could go on and on about the name change from Zilch to SONICFLOOd, the awakening we as a band had toward musical worship (and toward God), the inspirational studio stories, the God-drenched touring experiences, and the process of gathering and writing the special songs. There's no doubt that this journey changed us as much or more than it did anyone else. I discovered my calling as a worship leader. I experienced my first major tour - 75 cities with the Newboys back in 2000. I co-wrote some of my favorite songs of all time. I led large and small worship gatherings that I will never forget. I made friendships and partnerships that marked me as a man of God. I experienced great joy and sorrow. And I learned more than I could ever imagine about myself, touring, band life, worship, and God.
I will forever be grateful for my little part in creating SONICFLOOd, for the many, many fans and fellow worshipers who went on the journey with us, and for all that God did in and through us. By God's grace, this changed everything.
