Finally, DC righted some wrongs and things fell into place for their solo movie,
Wonder Woman. While it's surprisingly similar in setting and tone to
Captain America: The First Avenger (maybe that's why I like it?),
Wonder Woman's great cast - led by the adorable Gal Gadot and a great complement in Chris Pine - made this a standout movie for 2017. It's held up really well with rewatches, too.
"I am taking you to the front. We are probably gonna die. This is a terrible idea."
Honorable Mentions: Thor: Ragnarok. Taika Waititi's really quirky third entry for the
Thor franchise takes a bit to adjust to, but is definitely a fun MCU installment.
Kong: Skull Island. While a flawed movie for sure,
Skull Island really did a great job capturing that monster-island-journey movie of the golden age of cinema. It's kind of a big budget B-movie and a lot of fun.
