Oh, 2020... what a mess. We all know why very few movies released in 2020 - and some are just coming out now in late 2021 -- but for 2020, I decided it made the most sense to pick a movie that ACTUALLY released in the year of 2020. (Like,
A Quiet Place: Part II is considered a 2020 movie, but it didn't release till 2021, so I don't think it should count as 2020... especially since more "2020" releases are still yet to release -- like
Ghostbusters: Afterlife, for example). Anyway, probably the biggest blockbuster movie to release in 2020 was Christopher Nolan's
Tenet. It's gotten a mixed reception from viewers, but I think it's a film that improves with each viewing. Of the small batch of 2020 movies that actually released last year, I definitely think
Tenet was my favorite.
"We all believe we'd run into that burning building. But until we feel that heat, we can never know."
Honorable Mentions: I did see a bunch of movies last year, with
Love and Monsters being a big surprise,
Wild Mountain Thyme being a quirky indie film,
Bill and Ted Face the Music being a nice uplifting throwback, and
Sonic the Hedgehog being surprisingly fun, but none of them quite land for me like
Tenet does.
