It's the late 2000s and I'm fresh out of high school and just starting college. I'm doing a lot of driving back and forth between home and school and my local Christian radio station is starting to sound a little stale. So naturally I turned to Jesusfreakhideout.com to help me find some new tunes. And that's when I stumbled across this little album called
The End is Not the End. So get this: this album has not one, but
two 5-star reviews! And that's not all; it's also the staff's top album pick for 2008. With accolades like that, how could I not like this album, right? Well, I didn't. But it wasn't too long after that that another album called
Suburba was released and House of Heroes went on to become one of my favorite bands of all time. "But wait, what about
The End is Not the End?" is probably what you're asking right about now. Don't worry, I did finally come around. In fact, I've caught myself singing along a few times as I sit here listening to the album. But it's more than just the catchy sing-along tunes that make
The End is Not the End great. It's the stories. At their best, House of Heroes has a way of crafting stories that drag you in and connect you to the people, places, and events in the song. And
The End is Not the End is the perfect example of that.
